Meet the Committee

We are parents of deaf children who spend our spare timing running the affairs of our society.

Linda Bambridge - Chair

I have a profoundly deaf boy called Jasper who is 11 years old. I joined as a member in 2008 because I wanted to meet other parents with deaf children and share experiences. I also wanted Jasper to meet other deaf children and have fun. I became a committee member in 2013 and subsequently became appointed as Chair at the 2014 AGM.

Andrea Davidson

I have a profoundly deaf daughter called Ruby who was born in 2007. I became a member of the group in 2010 as I wanted Ruby to have the chance to socialise with other deaf children and for myself to have support from other parents. In July 2013 I joined the committee and went on to become the groups Secretary and Child Protection Officer at the end of July 2014.

Peter Phillips - Treasurer

I joined the group about 12 years ago and became a committee member soon afterwards. I have been the Groups Treasurer for the last 10yrs. We joined the Group because both our, now grown up, children are profoundly deaf. Mia now 24yrs old got her degree at De Montfort University and Carl 21yrs old completed his Car mechanics course at Brighton City College.

Dave Niner - Membership & IT

I have twelve year old twins, Jacob who has hearing aids and Amber who has cochlear implants. We joined the group over nine years ago and have actively attended events through the years. I joined the committee in 2013 and I am now responsible for the membership database and the IT. If you have any questions about being a parent of a deaf child then please feel free to contact me.

Fleur Devaney - Child Protection Officer

Hi, my name is Fleur Devaney and I have a 10 year old deaf daughter called Annabelle and a 7 year old hearing daughter called Emily. We joined bhwsdcs in 2010 to meet other local families with deaf children. I joined the committee in July 2013.

Amanda Watkins

Hi, my name is Amanda and I have a profoundly deaf son called Dylan who was born in 2005. Dylan has had bilateral cochlear implants since the age of about 3 years old. We have been members of bhwsdcs since 2012 as we wanted to be a part of the deaf community in some way for Dylan. I decided in 2014 to become apart of the committee so I could help other families the way the charity has helped mine both socially and emotionally.

Karen Hill

My name is Karen Hill and I have a 10 year old daughter called Kayleigh who has a moderate to severe hearing loss and a 14 year old hearing daughter called Sally. We joined bhwsdcs when Kayleigh was around 4 years old so that we could meet other families with deaf children. I joined the committee in Feb 2017.
